The Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is designed to help eligible entities design and implement strategies to create jobs, reduce total energy use, and improve energy efficiency in the building and transportation sectors. A list of cities and counties who received direct entitlement grants from the Department of Energy can be found here. Alabama received a formula grant in the amount of $10,350,200 for the EECBG program.  The state’s plan has been approved by DOE and through competitive solicitations, grants have been awarded for a variety of energy efficiency and conservation projects.  The projects include the 60% statutory minimum to be awarded to local governments that did not receive direct entitlement grants from DOE. Two Requests for Proposals were issued in July 2009.  The proposals have been rated and a list of scores and projects that were selected to receive grants can be viewed through the links at the top of the page.
